Why I Built This

How It All Started.

The morning I bought SBI , I woke up sad like most days.

What do I do now?. No more credit with the bank system, no more work. Where are my friends, my family? Well, when you go down, you do it alone.

Health Problems.

Problems don’t usually come alone, they always have company. When economic trouble hits it probably will be with marital and health problems. Fortunately, by this time I was already a widower. In June 2.004 I had an angioplasty, my heart started to show some damage.

Why I Considered Internet.

I didn’t have the tendency to destroy myself with drugs or alcohol but I liked to surf Internet. I felt like in a different world with so many new things to see, to learn, just at my finger tips. This vast knowledge all free and in the hands of so many people, not to talk about the market, was never available to humanity. This was something unbelievable and I wanted to use it. Young people don’t know knowledge was never before available like this. It always was exclusively in the hands of a few persons or organizations.

I started to play with the idea of building a Site but I didn’t know about what, how I was going to build it, neither what I needed to know. After a little investigation I knew that it wasn’t as easy and fast, as some people want us to believe.

How SiteSell Appeared.

I believe I first arrived at Sitesell thru a search engine. I was very impresseed by its clear and honest approach to building a site. Nevertheless, it was expensive compared to what others were offering… I kept the information and continued looking for more. I would come back from time to time.

Later, I realized that this was the correct approach but wasn’t sure it was a good buy. I was sure there were more alternatives. I doubted it for several weeks.

Finally, that morning of December the 20th 2.005 I made the big decision.

How It all Stared.

I did not know a thing about computers, web sites design or web languages. I just knew how to surf and read the mail. That was it. How can I build a site, design it, get visitors or make any money?. Well, I didn’t know how but I was going to try to do it with SBI.

Here I am, a little over a year after, with a bilingual site with over 160 pages, with more than 10.000 visitors per month (as off September 2.007), selling products and services on the Web.

I can see that I am productive person again. I even have new ideas for the future (I didn’t have those for a loooong time). I even started a second Site, www.peinado-de-moda.com . Not exactly Bill Gates but a lot of difference from where I was a year ago.

There is measurement for this effort. Alexa is an independent company that follows over 100 million sites in the Web. My sites are in the top 1%. These are the statistics for my 2 sites:



That is my story in a few words. If you have some entrepreneurial spirit and have a minimum internet knowledge, you can also have a Site, like many others do.
