I recently read in a magazine that there is a study that proved taking omega 3 oil while exercising helped with weight loss by burning more pounds than diet and exercise alone.

Has anyone been taking fish oil and noticed anything? I'm currently taking 4.000mg of fish oil a day because that’s what the magazine said to do and the bottle says take no more than 4 so I thought it would be ok. It can only be beneficial right?

Can really fish oil added to your exercise regimen aid in weight loss? Is this correct?

Yes, you are right, there are studies that support the idea that if you exercise and take some kind of omega 3 supplement your weight lose will be bigger than if you just exercise.

This is what the study says: A 12-week intervention trial examined the effect of omega-3 fish oil taken daily in combination with moderate aerobic exercise three times a week for overweight adults. Participants were diagnosed as having metabolic syndrome, a cluster of symptoms associated with obesity that include hypertension, high blood triglycerides and insulin resistance or heightened insulin levels, a precursor to diabetes.

The final results showed that the total proportion of fat in the body, particularly in the abdominal region, was reduced significantly in the omega 3 and exercise group, but not by fish oil or exercise alone. Please, read Fish Oil and Weight Loss




The recommended amount of omega 3 for people with overweight, hypertension or diabetes is 6.000 mgs per day of fish oil.

You will need to exercise to elevate you metabolic rate in order to increase the number of calories your body burns, by increasing the muscle mass. This is better done with exercises that incorporate short burst of intense exercise followed by a period of recuperation , or slow exercise, followed by another short intense burst( example, sprint 30 seconds, rest until you catch your breath back, sprint again.. for 5 to 10 sprints). This type of exercise is done in a short time and is the most efficient way to burn fat. Weight lifting is something else that helps to burn calories efficiently.

Exercise is a very potent drug, good for your body but special for your mind and your soul, you have to apply everyday at a certain pace to get its wonderful benefits.
