Warfarin and Fish OIl
by Eve Lee
Hi, Can you take fish oil safely if taking Warfarin, for blood thinning because of a stroke. I have to keep my INR between 2.5 and 3.5
Many thanks for a reply
Answer:
Hi Eve. Warfarin is a very powerful drug to keep your blood from forming clots. It can save your life if you are at risk of forming blood clots but you have to be aware that it interacts with many other drugs and natural supplements.
You have to be careful with several supplements that may interact with Warfarin:
• Fish oil and omega-3 supplements
• Vitamin K
• Bromelains
• Coenzyme Q10 (ubidecarenone)
• Cranberry extracts
• Danshen
• Dong quai
• Garlic
• Ginkgo
• Ginseng
• St. John's wort
Fish oil is of great benefit for your cardiovascular system but it has some affect on the viscosity of your blood. You should talk to your doctor about the possibility of introducing some omega 3 in your treatment.
My best wishes,
Alfredo E.
P.S. Don’t forget your daily omega 3 for your entire family. You can find omega 3 in Cod Liver Oil, Krill Oil and Fish Oil,molecularly distilled, free of impurities sent anywhere in the world at low reasonable price, Omega 3 Store
