Too much omega3
I’m beginning to exercise now doing high intensity and weight lifting and I’m starting to drink protein drinks. I have heard its good to put some fish oil omega 3 in your diet, I heard to take 6 capsules of 1.000mg of fish oil( 180 mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA)..
Is this safe? The label says only take 2 a day so its still safe to take more?

Answer:
Yes, it is safe to take 6.000 mg of fish oil per day, close to 1.800 mg of omega 3 fatty acids. Actually it is a low dose for many people. It won’t hurt you to take that much but will improve your general well being. A high dose is over 10 grams a day, used for mental disorders like depression or ADHD
The reason to supplement with omega 3 is that our diets have almost NO omega 3 in it. We need 20 to 50 times more omega 3 that what our 21st century food can provide.
The minimum omega 3 dosage I recommend is 3.000 mgs of fish oil per day, close to 900 mgs of omega 3 fatty acids(EPA plus DHA), if you are at your IDEAL weight and have no degenerative diseases like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, etc.
Some other foods with omega 3 are sardines, grass fed cattle (range free) and some small cold water fish. But the easiest, cheapest way to incorporate omega 3 into your health is taking some high quality fish oil, cod liver oil or krill oil.
