Refrigerated Fish Oil?

by Cathy
(USA)

Hi, I am taking fish oil during my pregnancy; do I have to keep it in the refrigerator? Thanks for your help.

Cathy

Answer:

Cathy: the answer to your question could be yes and no. Yes, if you take it liquid. Once you open the bottle you should keep it in the refrigerator. No, if you take capsules. There is no contact between the oil and the air that oxidizes. As you know is the oxygen in the air gets the oil rancid.

You said you are pregnant and are taking fish oil, congratulations because you are probably doing a favor to your future child and to you. You will have less possibilities of having a premature baby, he will have better nervous system (more intelligent), less allergies, no post partum depression, etc.
