Pet Food and Fish Oil? Find Here The Conditions To Keep Your Friend With You For a Long Time
Yes, fish oil is important in pet food, too. Unfortunately, most dry pet food has no omega 3.
It is no mystery that when animals are in contact with human civilization they become sick with the same diseases humans do, since we feed them with many of the things that make us sick.

We have changed our original diet for what the civilized world produces cheap grains and cereals. We have changed the Paleolithic diet that kept us strong and healthy for more than a million years, for what agriculture give us at low prices, though it kills us in the mean time. For more on this, please see my page on
What is Omega 3
and my page on Dieting.
We fatten fast fish, horses and cattle feeding them grains, specially corn. We also give our dogs and cats pet food full of grains that have the same effect it has on us: MAKE US FAT and SICK.
The Big Surprise in Pet FoodIf you believe what the pet food manufacturers says about how complete and healthy their food is for your pet, you are in for a big surprise, when the pet gets sick.
Yes folks. Modern pet food overloads your pet with omega 6, disrupts the healthy omega 6 to omega 3 balance in their body.
Instead of grass for cattle we give them corn. Instead of meat loaded with omega 3, that carnivorous animal, like dogs and cats, would eat in the wild, we give them pet food full of omega 6.
This is wrong. This makes your pet nervous, cranky, obese, with degenerative diseases like heart disease, arthritis, inflammation, accelerated aging, etc. If on top of that your pet is a couch potato, you have the formula for fast disaster.
British Nutrition Foundation found that feeding fish oil to animals increased the omega-3 content of their meat. This omega-3 content would, in theory, directly benefit any person that consumed it.
The Change: Fish Oil Omega 3.
Fortunately, things have started to change. We can buy free range cattle, fish oil fed animals like poultry and some fishes, and Omega 3 eggs.
You can buy your pet food with some omega 3, Fish oil for dogs. Omega 3 for cats. Nevertheless, open your eyes when you buy this pet food. Most manufactures count flaxseeds as omega 3 and that is not exactly right.
Flaxseed has Alfa Linolenic Acid that have to be converted by your pet to EPA and DHA, in order to be used. This conversion is very inefficient, less than 10%. That is why it is better to give your pet fish oil directly, Omega 3 for dogs or cats, any fish oil for humans would do. You can start by giving him a capsule every day and see what happens.
Most probably, in a few days you will see your pet more docile, more serene. His fur will star to change, to a beautiful hair, no allergies, less dermatitis, no itchiness. A beautiful coat is a sign of your pet's overall health and well-being, skin and coat problems are one of the most frequent reasons to see a veterinarian.
Research shows that puppies nourished with enhanced (high) levels of dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were smarter, more trainable than typical-DHA (low-DHA) nourished puppies. DHA is one of the most abundant fatty acids in the brain, and thought to be vital for mental function. DHA has long been praised as a wonder nutrient for human infants and now it's been found to boost healthy brain development in puppies.
In summary, the lack of Omega 3 and the excessive amount of Omega 6 in the modern diet ultimately create degenerative conditions. The store-bought processed foods still do not supply an adequate amount of Omega 3 to properly balance the ratio. You are better off giving your pet some extra omega 3 fish oil.
