Flaxseed Benefits - Omega 3, Flax and Borage Dosage
"You need to supplement only with omega 3"
Question: Flaxseed Benefits. Hi. I was wondering how much omega is recommended to take in one day? I have triple omega pills (flax, fish, borage). The supplement facts read: 400 mg flaxseed oil 400mg borage oil 400 mg Fish oil (it says 50% next to it)
Then it says:"These three oils typically provide the following fatty acid profile: Omega-3 Fatty acids 420mg" Then it continues w/:
220mg ALA 120mg EPA 80mg DHA 286mg Omega-6 Fatty acids 180mg Linoleci acid 88mg GLG 152mg Omega-9 fatty acids
What does this all mean? How many should I be taking? Three? I am not very sure. Thanks. By Ralph Answer Flaxseed Benefits. All body cells have a membrane. Each membrane is mainly made of essential fats, or essential fatty acids, Omega 6 and Omega 3. If the membrane has too much Omega 6 it becomes hard, viscous and there are problems for the food, energy and hormone transfer. When Omega 3 is sufficient the membrane is thinner, less viscous, more elastic, less inflamed. Too much 3 Omega and the membrane “drips”. Too much Omega 6 and is clogged. It has been established that the appropriate Omega 6/Omega 3 ratio is near 1:1. In our modern life this ratio has changed to around 20:1, and some times up to 50:1. We eat too much Omega 6. Too much Omega 6 and our cellular membranes are heavy, inelastic and the cellular function is slow. The body must do more work to feed itself and to remove toxins. Tissues are plugged up and they become inflamed. Inflammation is the main symptom of many diseases, from heart disease , arthritis, allergies and the list goes on and on. Omega 3 deficiency is also related to diseases like diabetes and thyroid dysfunction. If your membranes are slow, your body must produce more insulin to be able to put sugars into cells to produce energy. Then, you become more insulin resistant. If your pancreas is inflamed it will be more difficult to produce the insulin your body is demanding. Omega 3 fish oil deficiency also is related to high cholesterol. Cholesterol is a substance that heals and alleviates inflammation. High cholesterol is not the real problem. The body produces more cholesterol to try to fix something, generally inflammation. Fix the inflammation and the body will lower its cholesterol production. In addition, insulin stimulates more cholesterol production. When you buy a supplement of something you already have too much in your body, you are over-supplying your body with that substance. That is the case for Omega 6 and omega 9, you already have too much in your diet ( in all modern diets) and you are doing more harm than good by providing more. You should supplement ONLY with omega 3. Try to have at least 3 grams per day of fish oil(540 mgr of EPA and 360 mgr of DHA), if you are at optimum health and weight. Otherwise, you better take more.Flaxseed benefits. You can read more at:
