We should reduce the omega 6 avoiding all grains and grain oils. If you only increase the omega 3 fatty acids dosage but not decrease the omega 6 you may lose some of the omega 3 benefits

Many Fish oil pills come with omega 6 and omega 3, together. Avoid these since you already have too much omega 6.

The AHA urges Americans without heart disease, to eat fatty fish at least twice a week. Patients with coronary heart disease to take about 3 grams of fish oil daily, and patients with high triglycerides 6-12 grams of Fish Oil. They don´t say a word about avoiding omega 6.

It should be between 1.5 to 3 to have your omega 6 and omega 3 balanced.

There is also the triglycerides/ HDL cholesterol test, that can give you and indirect measurement of your Omega 6/3 ratio. It should be close to 1.
