No Fish Oil Capsules Break Down

Hello. My doc put me on 4 grams of fish oil each day; however, it gave me so many bowel movements in a day that I couldn't have done my job, so I only took 2 each day.

It seems though whenever I took them they did not break down in my system. When I would have my bowel movement the next day, they both would come out whole, and that is every time. I ran out a couple of weeks ago and still seem to be passing these pills and I could have sworn I've already passed all I have took.

This past week my stomach has been bloated, gassy and having bowel about 4x's each day and this a.m. pooped another pill out whole. Any suggestions on what's going on?

This is not the first time I have some visitor complaining their fish oil capsules do not break down in their stomach. For some reason, some people is very susceptible to fish oil and get a lot of bloating and gas. I recommend starting slowly with their introduction to fish oil.

I never had any problems with it but I have some friends that complained at the beginning and they had to try different hours, before or after meals, frozen capsules, etc.

For example, take only one capsule for several days until you feel well again, no stomach problems. Once your stomach can take one capsule, add another one and so on until you reach 4.000 mg per day.

If after that, your capsules are not dissolving in your stomach, I would suggest to switch to a different manufacturer of fish oil, preferably a better quality like molecularly distilled fish oil.

You also have the possibility to buy liquid fish oil to avoid the situation.

Another alternative if you continue with the stomach bloating is to try cod liver oil or krill oil. Do not buy omega 3 6 9 oil or any other vegetable origin omega 3, you probably won’t feel any bloating because it is not the active for of omega 3. Stick to the animal origin omega 3 (from fish, cod liver or krill)
