Question:

Scalp Itch. I have not got any luck getting rid of my itchy scalp. When I sleep or wake up, my scalp itches in the back and sides of the head. I believe it is my stress indicator but not sure.

Doctors have never been helpful except to prescribe cortisone medicines. Certain shampoos help to get rid of the itch but how can I get rid of the itchy scalp which I've had for 20 years? Scalp Itch, itchy scalp and omega 3 Answer:

Scalp Itch. All body cells have a membrane. Each membrane is mainly made of essential fats, or essential fatty acids, Omega 6 and Omega 3. If the membrane has too much Omega 6 it becomes hard, viscous and there are problems for the food, energy and hormone transfer.

When Omega 3 is sufficient the membrane is thinner, less viscous, more elastic, less inflamed. Too much 3 Omega and the membrane “drips”. Too much Omega 6 and is clogged. It has been established that the appropriate Omega 6/Omega 3 ratio is near 1:1. In our modern life this ratio has changed to around 20:1, and some times up to 50:1. We eat too much Omega 6.

Too much Omega 6 and our cellular membranes are heavy, inelastic and the cellular function is slow. The body must do more work to feed itself and to remove toxins. Tissues are plugged up and they become inflamed. Inflammation is the main symptom of many diseases, from heart disease , arthritis, allergies and the list goes on and on.

Omega 3 deficiency is also related to diseases like diabetes, dry skin, inflammation and thyroid dysfunction. If your membranes are slow, your body must produce more insulin to be able to put sugars into cells to produce energy. The, you become more insulin resistant. If your pancreas is inflamed it will be more difficult to produce the insulin your body is demanding.

I believe it is a good idea to use the Tea Tree shampoo. It is a marvellous product that can do wonders on the skin in a few days.

Mostly the ideas you have tried go for the symptoms not for the cause of the problem. What you may have been feeling are the effects of too much omega 6; that is, you may have your omega 6 / omega 3 ratio unbalance. Too much grains, breads, pasta, sugary foods, sodas, vegetable oils, etc, are omega 6. They produce inflammation in all your cells, specially in your skin.

You can compensate that by starting with 3 to 6 fish oil capsules per day, and see the reaction. Remember that omega 6 and omega 3 fight for the same enzyme to be digested, before it gets to the cell membranes.
