How Many Tablespoons Is 3 Grams of Fish Oil
spoonful of fish oil
Hi: How many tablespoons should i have - how much is 3 grams?
Thanks.
Answer:
I usually make my recommendation that if you are healthy ( no degenerative disorders like diabetes, hypertension, high triglycerides, etc) and at your ideal weight, as a preventive measure, you should take 3.000 mg of fish oil.
That amount of fish oil usually represents 900 mg of total omega 3 fatty acids( most fish oil capsules have 180 mg of EPA plus 120 mg of DHA per every capsule of 1.000 mg of fish oil), which is the amount of EPA plus DHA that the fish oil indicates in the label.
That is for fish oil capsules. When you buy liquid fish oil, it indicates in the label how much EPA and DHA per spoonful of fish oil. Voila!!! Every liquid fish oil manufacturer has a different amount of EPA and DHA per spoonful.
For example, the liquid fish oil I buy inicates that one teaspoon is 5 ml and it contains 650 mg of EPa and 450 mg of DHA. THat is total omega 3 fats of 1.100 mg per teaspoon. A little over my 900 mg per day recommendation, if you are healthy and at your ideal weight.
Now, be cautious if the fish oil you buy DOES NOT include the amounts of EPA and DHA. It may be an indication of poor quality. Buy always from companies that have clear rules for theirs products.
