Headaches With Fish Oil

Question:
I have been attempting to take Omega 3 fish oil pills but always come down with a headache after an hour. I also will get the same headache when consuming Walnuts and Salmon. Have tried many different brands of fish oil pills and tried to slowly introduce them, but even after several months, the headache after consuming Omega 3 persists. Why do I get this annoying headache from Omega 3? Is there something I should take with the fish oil to stop the headaches?

Answer:
Hello William: Thanks for visiting our Portal.
Well, I could not tell you the reason why you are having your headaches after taking fish oil. Apparently, you have changed fish oil brands without good results.
I have 2 suggestions to make:
1- Buy a molecularly distilled fish oil. This fish oil is screened for the absence of potentially harmful levels of contaminants (i.e. mercury, heavy metals, PCB's, dioxins, and other contaminants). It may be your first possibility.
You can buy it here
2- Try Krill Oil, it brings the EPA and DHA in a different way than fish oil.
At the beginning of the 90s , it was discovered Antarctic krill oil has a high omega 3 content.
In opposition to what happens with fish oils, in the case of Antarctic krill oil, omega 3 fatty acids are present as phospholipids, that is liposomes, or small packages that directly transport fatty acids to all body cells. All active cells membranes are formed by phospholipids. That is the reason for their significance.
It has been scientifically established that the safest and most effective way to deliver EPA and DHA to cells is in this phospholipid form. Unfortunately, fish oil does not contain phospholipids. Its Omega 3 fatty acids are triglycerides. There you have an important difference in human health results.
In sum, both fish and krill oil have EPA and DHA fatty acids. The difference is that in krill oil they are present as phospholipids while in fish oil, they are as triglycerides. The end result is a more efficient way to deliver them to cell membranes, where they exert their benefits. In other words, Antarctic krill oil has bigger bio availability.

My best to you,
