The truth is that when you buy your flax seed at the health food store there are 2 possibilities, whole or milled. If you buy whole flax seed, the omega 3 content is in the form of ALA that has to be converted by your body into EPA and DHA form in order to be assimilated by your cells. The other problem is if you buy it as milled flax seed. Once the flax seed is milled it only takes a short time for the omega 3 in the bag to get oxidized (rancid), so you end up adding a lot of oxidation to your body. Bad for everything.
