is better that dried death food"

In this page we will see; why dry pet food could be the source of major degenerative conditions in your pet; why you have to supplement with omega 3 for dogs , in order to bring balance back to your pets health; the different benefits of fish oil for dogs; recommendations to keep your friend healthy and happy forever.

Today, More Pets Die Younger.

In modern times pets, specially dogs and cats, are part of modern life for their company, the happiness they bring to their human friends. There are about 70 million dogs in the USA.

If you are one of these households, you need to also consider these facts:

  • Cancer is the number ONE killer of dogs.
  • One in three dogs will die from cancer.
  • 50 percent of dogs over the age of 10 will succumb to cancer

Our beloved companions are suffering and dying young in increasing numbers. It’s obvious that something is wrong. It probably has something to do with the food we supply our pets.

Letīs See, Pet Food.

Dry pet food manufacturers claim everything our animals need is inside that attractive bag with their beautiful pictures of meats, vegetables and fruits, labeled "natural!" This would be great, but it's impossible to make such claims.

No matter how good the ingredients are in a bag of dog or cat food, it is still a highly processed, grain-based food, lacking in live and whole nutrients. Just a big bag of dead omega 6 fatty acids.

Manufactured dry dog foods do not provide the nutrients our dogs need and thus cause malnutrition; commercial foods also contain toxins that are over-burdening their bodies and compromising their immune systems so they fall prey to disease.

Pet Food With Fatty Acids.

Some dry food have, according to their claim, omega 3 essential fatty acids for dogs. Flax, flax seeds and flax seed oil they all have Alpha-linolenic Acid, ALA. They can all be converted to EPA and DHA, the form of omega 3 the body uses.

When you buy milled flax seeds at the supermarket, you should be aware that the oxygen in the air reacts within minutes with the milled flax seeds making it useless, from the fatty acid health point of view. You would have to mille it and consume it on the spot in order to avoid oxidation.

Now, it can easily be understood why when you buy that dry pet food saying it is rich in omega 3 fatty acids , is just BS. Omega 3 fatty acids in the form of EPA or DHA only last hours at room temperatures before they go rancid. So, maybe it contains some form of milled flax seeds that probably is death from the health stand point. On top of that, all cats and many dogs donīt have the enzymes to convert ALA to EPA and DHA.

The only fatty acids that can withstand the heat process for the manufacture of dry pet food are Omega 6 fatty Acids, and we donīt want to overload our dogs with more of those.

In conclusion, what you buy as dry pet food may be lacking omega 3 and is overdosing in omega 6, creating the conditions for degenerative diseases in your dog. The best solution to insure our pet's health is to provide a high quality Omega 3 Fish oil supplement, along with a premium fresh food.

Benefits of Fish Oil for Dogs.

Some of the conditions or disorders that positively react to fish oil for dogs:

  • Allergies and autoimmune conditions. Specially, many skin conditions have their root in the lack of omega 3.
  • Arthritis. "EPA can reduce damage to the tissue that lines the joint surface (cartilage) by decreasing the activity of enzymes in arthritis." University of Liverpool. EPA (from fish oil) shown to be key for healthy joint cartilage.
  • Different Inflammatory disorders like, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and rheumatoid arthritis may respond to the anti-inflammatory effects of Omega 3 essential fatty acids.
  • Dull Hair Coats and seborrhea. Better skin, beautiful coat.
  • Yeast Infection in the skin and ears of dogs and cats.
  • Cardiovascular problems like sudden cardiac death or arrhythmias, blood clots and hypertension.
  • High triglycerides. This is one of the conditions that best react to fish oil for dogs. It is important when you feed a high omega 6 diet like dry pet food provides.
  • Cholesterol profile. HDL cholesterol rises with fish oil for dogs, providing a better cholesterol profile.

  • Avoid fetal brain and eye underdevelopment of poppy . DHA (from fish oil) has been shown to be a key in neural development.Recent research shows that the essential fatty acid, DHA, as found in omega-3 fish oil, has training and learning enhancing properties for your pets! The research shows "that puppies nourished with enhanced (high) levels of dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were smarter, more trainable than typical-DHA (low-DHA) nourished puppies.".
  • Cancer cells proliferation. Studies show that pets fed high doses of fish oil also have better control of cancer. So, you have some control of cancer with fish oil for dogs.
  • Bad mood.
  • Learning difficulties.

Omega 3 Dosage for dogs.

If you have a rather healthy or young dog you can prevent degenerative diseases by adding a fish oil capsule( 1.000 mgrs of fish oil, which usually have 180 mgrs of Epa and 120 mgrs of DHA, in each), every day, if itīs a medium size dog. Maybe half of that if it is a small dog.

I donīt recommend flax seeds. Many dogs can not convert it to EPA and DHA and it would have to be milled on the spot to avoid oxidation, which makes it useless.

Many supplements contain Omega 3 and Omega 6. By now you know that most pet food contains more that needed omega 6, so if you add more with the supplement, you are not helping your dog.

If you are treating any health condition like renal damage, heart trouble, etc., you would have to increase the dosage according to size and type of problem. If the health condition does not improve with high omega 3 dosages it means there is still too much omega 6 in the system. It needs less omega 6, more natural diet, more omega 3.

Always remember to supplement with vitamin E when you are giving Omega 3. It avoids oxidation.

My 5 Suggestions on Fish oil for dogs.

I understand that food manufactures advice giving your pet ONLY dry food in order to maintain him healthy forever. They even imply that giving other foods may be hazardous to our loved friends. The sad thing is that in plain 21rst century many people believe what these manufactures say. Would you give your children dry food? I hope not, even if the producer say it can kill your child. Why then donīt you do the same thing with your pet?.

I also realize that modern life make us do things that are not perfect, like feeding your dog SOME dry food. But you can always complement that with some natural or raw food that will make him or her very happy and healthy.

Here my 5 suggestions:

  • Take Fish oil for dogs, every day.
  • Exercise at a fast pace every day. It’s good for you, too.
  • Raw Meat. Dogs are carnivorous animals, they need essential nutrients that no canned or dry food would ever supply. Advantage, you don’t have to cook it, and you can buy cheap meat, even with bones. Your friend will love you more, if that is possible, forever. You can use sardines, some days, or bovine meat on others.
  • One raw egg every day. No cooking, more amino acids, vitamins, etc. Very cheap.
  • Compensate with less dry food to maintain equal amount of calories.
