Shellfish allergy and Fish oil

Hi. I want to take an Omega 3 fish oil supplement but am a little worried about an allergic reaction.

I am allergic to shellfish, but have had calamari and I am ok. I eat tuna, salmon, sole, cod, tilapia and halibut so I don’t think I have a fish allergy.

Based on this information would it be safe to take the supplement?
Thank you

Answer:

Hello Catherine. I believe you should not resign all the health benefits you can get if you take a supplement of fish oil, they can improve all areas of your well being. Nevertheless, if you have had an allergy you should be cautious when starting with your supplementation.

First, don´t buy any commercial fish oil; buy the molecularly distilled fish oil. It has the least amount of contaminants and possible allergenics (we sell it here). The recommended dosage is 3.000 mg of fish oil per day, equivalent to 900 mg of omega 3 fats (EPA plus DHA).
