Fish Oil and Antibiotics

by Kate
(Hong Kong)

Hi. Just wonder if Fish oil has any interaction with antibiotics?

Thanks.

Answer
Hello Kate. I don´t see any interaction reported of fish oil and antibiotics in medical literature.

By the opposite, fish oil has a positive effect in boosting the immune system if the proper dosage and frequency are used.

One of the studies regarding the use of fish oil and antibiotics reports: “Administration of omega-3 fatty acid may reduce mortality, antibiotic use, and length of hospital stay in different diseases.” This was a clinical investigation reported by the Society of Critical Care Medecine in April 2.006.

My best wishes,

Alfredo E.
