Question:
Omega 3 Algae. Fish oils contain the omega 3s EPA and DHA correct? Well, don't the fish have to eat the algae to get that EPA and DHA...Why not skip the middle man and just supplement algae?Is it not as effective? is there some process in the fish that concentrates these? Also, doesn't the body create the EPA and DHA from ALA... could that be supplemented instead of the fish oil or algae?By Robert Answer: Omega 3 Algae. Omega 3 are called ESSENTIAL FATS for one reason: if you don´t get them you get sick. Many degenerative diseases and accelerated aging come from a low omega 3 diet, or from an unbalance omega 6/omega 3 ratio diet.I guess you can get your omega 3 from algae or from a number of other vegetable sources but it is not an efficient conversion. Only about 10% gets into EPA and DHA, when you are lucky to have the enzymes to digest them(Most people are not able). There are other sources. For example, free range cattle have similar or higher omega 3 content than fish. It is a very healthy food but when you feed them grains you produce ill cattle and humans.
It´s important to understand that primitive or Paleolithic man never suffered the disorders we have in modern society. We evolved for millions of years, eating a diet rich in raw meat, saturated fats and a few carbohydrates (there was no agriculture, just fruits, some vegetables and few whole grains, fire was not used).
All that toppled by lots of exercise while chasing those foods. Our organism is formed and made for that diet. It is our natural diet and the closer we stay to it the healthier we´ll be. No matter what any low cholesterol oil manufacturer, modern medical organization or scientist say.
