reasons to Exercise, We Have It in Our Genes

Big Reasons to Exercise.

There are many reasons to exercise even if you won’t believe after looking at some humans.Exercise is one of our basic needs (the need for movement). We evolved during thousands of years being nomads; that is, moving and chasing ( being chased, too) the animals we needed for food. Our survival depended on it for thousands of years. The body adapted to live under these extreme conditions of continuous movement, and today still is the same body, even though many would like think otherwise.

"exercise is the natural way to fight
high insulin and triglycerides"

Reasons to Exercise: Evolution and Exercise.

Agriculture was a big step in the development of civilization. Before it, we used to run around chasing different animals. There wasn’t much contact between humans. Once humans were able to stay at one place, thanks to agriculture, different civilizations started to flourish.

But there was a set back, we lost two important aspects for human health. We didn’t move like before agriculture. Prior, we had to be in continual movement to gather the animals and fruits necessary for survival. Human body evolved for millions of years in this all day physical exertion, we were nomads. Like wild animals do today.

In the last few thousand years of agriculture the exertion requirements for survival were less extreme. In the last century with commercial agriculture in place, we have to move even less. We still have the body adapted to continual movement but don’t use it further than the refrigerator.

The other change agriculture brought was in diet. Now, we have all types of grains available during the whole year around, cheap grains for all. This was the coup de grace to our body that now had to accommodate enormous amounts of carbohydrates and insulin. It was not prepared to handle it.

This high sugary, or carbohydrate, diet did more harm to our now sedentary body because we didn’t have the natural way to fight high insulin: exercising.

Agriculture made as fat and sedentary and here we are in the 21th century, plagued with degenerative diseases, as a consequence.

If we understand this basic human evolutionary need of physical exertion we can accept our need to exercising every day. Our body is designed for it. After all of the above, we still feel the call of laziness every time we are about to do some exertion. But once you are out of the front door it’s all gone.

Reasons to Exercise: Statistics

Despite the many benefits of exercise, statistics show that two-thirds of American adults are not physically active on a regular basis and a quarter get virtually no physical exertion at all. Why?

Reasons to Exercise: Doctors and Exercise.

doctors and exercise I can remember, not many years ago, when the best advice a doctor would give a patient under any circumstances was quietude. Now we get all kinds of warnings from media and health professionals on the lethal dangers of exercising without doctor’s approval. The underlying assumption is that physical activity is some kind of alien state, something we are not really suited for. This is crazy since the statement implies that exercising is something dangerous.

This may keep many would be exercisers in a state of doubt, out of action. The fact is that our body needs the physical exertion at all ages, and that it actually is against our nature to be a couch potato

Of course, there are some risks starting a physical exertion program. If you have been in your couch for several decades you need some time to adapt to the new situation. But if there is no pain, specially chest pain (treat it with respect), you can take it without doubt.

Now, many degenerative diseases are known to be caused by a sedentary life style. They are cured and prevented with physical exertion.

Nevertheless, doctors are far from prescribing exercise as they should: as a basic primary need for humans. They are the first to ignore the advice. If doctors could prescribe a drug that reduced the risk of heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis by 40%, everyone would be paying for it. But since you can not pay for or store exercise, many don’t want to bother.

“If it weren't for the fact that the TV set and the refrigerator are so far apart, some of us wouldn't get any physical exertion at all.” ~Joey Adams

Exercising should be use today as a drug: to prevent and cure many disorders.
