My Allergic Reaction to Fish Oil

Question:

Have you heard of an allergic reaction to fish oil? I loved the effects it has on my moods, but after a week on the pills I developed a rash on my neck (very itchy). Allergic Reaction to Fish Oil

Is there anyway I can combat the rash and keep taking the pills? What types of reactions have you heard of?

Answer:

Hi Shannon: Thanks for visiting our Portal.

Yes, I have heard of allergic reaction to fish oil. It may be caused not by the fish oil itself but by some of the minor impurities in the fish oil, if you are not allergic to fish(which could be the cause).

Have you tried to change brand names?. I would do that if I were in your place, switch to molecularly distilled fish oil, which has almost no chemical contaminants. You can read more about molecularly distilled omega 3 here

You can buy at my Omega 3 Store If you continue with your allergy, I would suggest switching to a superior type of Omega 3: Krill Oil.

In opposition to what happens with fish oils, in the case of Antarctic krill oil, omega 3 fatty acids are present as phospholipids, that is liposomes, or small packages that directly transport fatty acids to all body cells. All active cells membranes are formed by phospholipids. That is the reason for their significance.

It has been scientifically established that the safest and most effective way to deliver EPA and DHA to cells is in this phospholipid form. Unfortunately, fish oil does not contain phospholipids. Its Omega 3 fatty acids are triglycerides. There you have an important difference in human health results.

In sum, both fish and krill oil have EPA and DHA fatty acids. The difference is that in krill oil they are present as phospholipids while in fish oil, they are as triglycerides. The end result is a more efficient way to deliver them to cell membranes, where they exert their benefits. In other words, Antarctic krill oil has bigger bio availability. You can buy krill oil here . This may be a little more expensive that fish oil but have more and better benefits.

I hope this helps.
